Smart Water Leak Protection for Your Home

A burst pipe or hidden leak can cause serious damage before you notice it, especially when you’re asleep or away from home.

SmartLeak UK helps homeowners choose and install water leak detection, monitoring and automatic shut-off systems. Founded by experienced plumber and water property specialist, Luke Willis, we provide the complete service: assessing your home, recommending suitable protection, installing and testing it, and showing you how it works.

Know about a leak sooner.

Limit the damage it can cause.

What kind of protection does your home need?

Every home is different. The right setup depends on its plumbing, where leaks are most likely to occur and how often the property is empty.

We may recommend:

  • Leak sensors near washing machines, dishwashers, sinks, tanks or cylinders to alert you when water reaches them.

  • Water monitoring to identify unusual or continuous water use.

  • Automatic shut-off to close a suitable water supply when the system detects a defined problem.

  • Remote alerts to notify you when you are away, where the chosen system supports them.

  • Combined protection using monitoring or shut-off alongside sensors in higher-risk areas.

Some systems sound an alarm; others can also isolate the water. We will explain the difference and recommend an option that suits your home.

A complete service, from survey to setup

1. We assess your home

We check the incoming water supply, stop tap, pipework and access. We’ll ask about previous leaks, vulnerable areas and how you use the property, including holidays or other periods when it may be empty.

2. We recommend a suitable system

You’ll receive a clear recommendation explaining what the proposed system detects, whether it can shut off the water, and where any sensors would go. We’ll also explain its limitations and provide a written quote.

3. We install and test it

We install the agreed equipment, checks the plumbing connections and tests the relevant sensors, alerts and shut-off functions.

4. We show you how to use it

Where the chosen system includes an app, we help set up your account, alerts and settings. We show you what to do if an alert arrives, how to reset the system and how to use any manual override.

5. We can help you maintain it

Sensors, batteries, valves and alert settings should be checked periodically. We can discuss an annual service to help keep your system working as intended

Protection when you’re away

If a home is empty during a holiday or for longer periods, an audible alarm alone may not be enough. Depending on your property, a system with remote alerts and automatic shut-off may offer more useful protection.

We’ll discuss who should receive alerts and whether someone could attend the property if the system identifies a possible leak.

What does installation cost?

The price depends on the equipment, your pipework, access to the incoming supply, the number of sensors and any additional work needed. Our package prices give you a starting point; a survey lets us confirm the right setup and provide a written installation quote.

Frequently asked questions

Can you fit a system in a house with older plumbing?

Often, yes. We will need to check the condition and position of the incoming supply, pipe size, stop tap and available space. If plumbing alterations are needed, we’ll include them in the quote before work begins.

Will it detect every leak?

No single system can detect every type of leak. A flow-monitoring system and a point sensor detect different things, which is why we assess the property before recommending equipment. We’ll explain what your proposed setup covers and where its limits are.

Will the water shut off every time I run a bath or use the washing machine?

The system must be selected and configured with your normal water use in mind. We’ll discuss how your household uses water, test the setup and show you how to manage its settings.

What happens if the Wi-Fi or power goes off?

That depends on the product installed. Before you decide, we’ll explain how the proposed system behaves during a power or internet outage, including whether alerts or automatic shut-off are affected.

Do I need to choose a product before contacting you?

No. Tell us about your home and what concerns you. We can assess the property and recommend a suitable option.
